Territorial Acknowledgment
St George’s Cadboro Bay respectfully acknowledges the land we stand and pray on. The soil here holds the history and footsteps of the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples. On the traditional territory of the Songhees, Esquimalt and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples, we uphold the hopeful and healing spirit of reconciliation. We promise to walk with truth and love in those footprints that connect and ground us. |

Church CleaningGetting ready for Easter! You are invited to join in sprucing up our church for Easter! Sunday, April 6, after the 10am service - We will be preparing the space for the professional cleaners who are coming April 7 to wash all the indoor and outdoor windows, and to soft scrub the ceiling. Our preparation will include removing drapery behind the altar, posters on the windows and moving items that inhibit access to the windows and other areas to be cleaned. Wednesday, April 9, 9:30am - We are hosting a work party to replace the felt sliders on the sanctuary chairs and benches. These sliders help prevent floor damage but have themselves become lost or damaged over the years. Please bring a sturdy putty knife if you have one, as this will help to remove the old sliders. Please speak with Gary Fisher with your questions or for further information! Photo by Thomas Dewey on Unsplash |

Community Events Campaign
From Shrove Tuesday pancakes and regular Wednesday night community dinners, and on to Maundy Thursday (April 17) when we commemorate the Last Supper, and beyond - we have many opportunities to eat together... this season and throughout the year. "How do we pay for all that?!?" You wonder? Our funding model for our social and community events within and beyond the parish is quite simply that we ask you to contribute to our "Community Events Fund" with a tax-receiptable gift. You may do so once per year, or on an on-going basis. Now is a great time! This can be done by indicating so on your regular envelope or cheque, by using the "Community Events" envelopes (please include your regular envelope number) or online through the "donate" button on the website (please choose "Community Events" tab). This approach allows us to offer generous hospitality to all who come through the doors and frees us from focusing our events on fundraising. Please invite your friends and neighbours to join us anytime, without asking for a little cash out of their pockets. We are grateful for your presence and participation at St. George's, and we look forward to sharing a meal together. |

SPRING TIME UPDATE from the Refugee Team!
Time flies and we find ourselves approaching Springtime. Ruth and Tesfalem have seen their first West Coast Winter including some snow, and they have been introduced to dressing in layers to go outside. We are fortunate to have been hosted in their cozy home with Ethiopian coffee, and delicious bread with honey. It has taken some time for health cards to be received, but we are fortunate, with John’s perseverance, to have them under a doctor’s wing due to their refugee status. Ruth has started language classes, and Ruth’s brother-in-law was able to get Tesfalem an interview for a part time job in the laundry department of a downtown hotel. He has completed his training and is working part-time regularly, with a potential to move full-time. As their family live more in the centre of town they are getting used to transportation. The exciting news is that Ruth is pregnant and their baby is due in June/July. Ruth’s sister just gave birth to her second child, and we are sure she will be a great support for Ruth as they have discussed midwives and more. It is exciting to think the two little cousins will grow up so close together, along with their older cousin! Their family members that live in Victoria, especially Ermias, have been a huge help in getting them settled. We look forward to bringing you more updates as we follow the journey of this young couple, and as their family grows in Canada! The Team continues to be grateful for the support offered by the St George’s community to Ruth and Tesfalem. |

A Lenten SeriesStaying Grounded in Times of Chaos Lent is the season of 40 days leading up to Easter. This season is a time of intentional reflection when we make space in our lives for God to change our hearts in preparation for the new life that awaits us in the resurrection we celebrate at Easter. This year we will share brief videos in a series called Staying Grounded in Times of Chaos. Those who have gone before us have lived in chaotic times as well and passed wisdom on to us as we follow Christ today. In this series, voices across our diocese will share practices from our tradition that help us live out our faith when the world feels crazy. We begin our series with Brendon Neilson, Executive Director. To begin watching the series, please click on the links below. A new video will be released every Wednesday between now and Holy Week. Part One: Think Small About the Possibilities of How We Gather |
