Territorial Acknowledgment
St George’s Cadboro Bay respectfully acknowledges the land we stand and pray on. The soil here holds the history and footsteps of the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples. On the traditional territory of the Songhees, Esquimalt and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples, we uphold the hopeful and healing spirit of reconciliation. We promise to walk with truth and love in those footprints that connect and ground us. |

International Women's DayMarch 8, 2025 Happy International Women's Day!
The first women ordained in our diocese were the Rev. Diana Spencer and the Rev. Joy Vernon in 1989. The Rev. Karen Fast became the fourth to be ordained in 1991. Karen was gracious enough to provide us with a brief interview to mark this commemorative day in Canada. Today, more than fifty percent of our clergy are women. Bishop Anna Greenwood-Lee is the first female Bishop of our diocese.

Wonderful Wednesdays: What Do You Believe?Wednesdays March 12th, 19th, and 26th - 9:45am What Do You Believe?
There is the story of Charles Blondin, a tightrope walker who asked a crowd if they believed he could safely walk a wheelbarrow across Niagara Falls on a tightrope. Most of the crowd said they did believe he could do this. Then he asked who was willing to get in the wheelbarrow.
For these three weeks we will explore what it is that we actually, personally believe. Questions like do you believe in miracles, and if so, what do they look like? Who, really, is God? What parts of the Bible do you believe? What happens when we die? Is there a heaven and if so, what is the entrance exam? And many more.
No right answers, no wrong questions. We are all on the journey. Come to any or all of the sessions.
Hosted by The Ven. Eric Partridge
March 12, 19, and 26, 2025 |

Community Events Campaign
From Shrove Tuesday pancakes and regular Wednesday night community dinners, and on to Maundy Thursday (April 17) when we commemorate the Last Supper, and beyond - we have many opportunities to eat together... this season and throughout the year.
"How do we pay for all that?!?" You wonder?
Our funding model for our social and community events within and beyond the parish is quite simply that we ask you to contribute to our "Community Events Fund" with a tax-receiptable gift. You may do so once per year, or on an on-going basis. Now is a great time! This can be done by indicating so on your regular envelope or cheque, by using the "Community Events" envelopes (please include your regular envelope number) or online through the "donate" button on the website (please choose "Community Events" tab).
This approach allows us to offer generous hospitality to all who come through the doors and frees us from focusing our events on fundraising. Please invite your friends and neighbours to join us anytime, without asking for a little cash out of their pockets.
We are grateful for your presence and participation at St. George's, and we look forward to sharing a meal together. |
