Territorial Acknowledgment
St George’s Cadboro Bay respectfully acknowledges the land we stand and pray on. The soil here holds the history and footsteps of the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples. On the traditional territory of the Songhees, Esquimalt and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples, we uphold the hopeful and healing spirit of reconciliation. We promise to walk with truth and love in those footprints that connect and ground us. |

Holy Week servicesPalm Sunday, April 13th to Easter Sunday, April 20th The holiest week in the Christian year takes us from the excitement and joy of Jesus’ glorious entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday (April 13), through the story of Jesus’ passion, culminating with Easter on Sunday, April 20. We walk with Jesus in the Way of God through it all, step by step. Palm Sunday (April 13) at 8:00am & 10:00am - Our worship includes a palm procession and anointing for healing and strength, in preparation for the difficult journey ahead. Wednesday in Holy Week (April 16) at 5:00pm - We gather "in the garden" to reflect and pray with Jesus and one another, through a sung service of evening prayer (Holden). Please note there is no dinner provided tonight. Maundy Thursday (April 17) at 6:00pm - We remember Jesus' commandment to love one another with story, foot-washing and a simple, shared dinner. Good Friday (April 18) at 11:00am - We meditate on the cross of Christ, reflecting on the injustice of the world and the grief we share. Easter Sunday (April 20) at 8:00am & 10:00am - We celebrate the surprising new life that comes with resurrection. |

Help decorate the Church for Easter!Saturday, April 19th - 10am We would greatly appreciate help from the congregation to decorate the church for Easter Sunday. Decorating will be on Saturday, April 19th from 10 am to 12 pm. We would love to have an abundance of beautiful flowers as we celebrate our Risen Lord together. We will purchase some, but flowers from your own gardens make it even better. You are welcome to take flowers home with you after the 10am service on Easter to enjoy yourself or to give to those that may not be able to come to Church in person! There are envelopes available in the Narthex for donations for Easter flowers. Please include the name/names of those you are honoring or memorializing if you would like their name included in the bulletin. You can donate cash or by cheque made out to St George's Chuch. |

Community Events Campaign
From Shrove Tuesday pancakes and regular Wednesday night community dinners, and on to Maundy Thursday (April 17) when we commemorate the Last Supper, and beyond - we have many opportunities to eat together... this season and throughout the year. "How do we pay for all that?!?" You wonder? Our funding model for our social and community events within and beyond the parish is quite simply that we ask you to contribute to our "Community Events Fund" with a tax-receiptable gift. You may do so once per year, or on an on-going basis. Now is a great time! This can be done by indicating so on your regular envelope or cheque, by using the "Community Events" envelopes (please include your regular envelope number) or online through the "donate" button on the website (please choose "Community Events" tab). This approach allows us to offer generous hospitality to all who come through the doors and frees us from focusing our events on fundraising. Please invite your friends and neighbours to join us anytime, without asking for a little cash out of their pockets. We are grateful for your presence and participation at St. George's, and we look forward to sharing a meal together. |

Request from the Refugee TeamShopping for necessary baby items for Ruth and Tesfalem As you may know by now, our young couple Ruth and Tesfalem are expecting their first child in June! Some of the Refugee Team recently had a chat with Ruth about her immediate needs for her baby…… So, we thought we would send a list out into the ether to see if anyone has the ability to donate any of the following necessary items. That being said, all current safety features for equipment will be followed, and although we would be grateful, we will decline items if we don’t think they fit the current Canadian regulations. Ruth & Tesfalem request: • Crib frame [we have a mattress measuring 70cm x 135cm] If you have any of the above items to donate, please contacting Ros via the Office email, and write BABY in the Subject title: admin@stgeorgecadborobay.ca If you are unable to assist with these named items, we would also be very grateful for any financial donations sent through the usual channels and labelled “Refugee Fund.” We anticipate holding a Baby Shower sometime after the baby is born. We can then all participate with wishing this new family well, and add in smaller gift items, such as baby clothing and more, if you so wish. In grateful thanks for the St George’s community, from your Refugee Team. Photo by NEERAJ CHATURVEDI on Unsplash |
