Territorial Acknowledgment
St George’s Cadboro Bay respectfully acknowledges the land we stand and pray on. The soil here holds the history and footsteps of the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples. On the traditional territory of the Songhees, Esquimalt and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples, we uphold the hopeful and healing spirit of reconciliation. We promise to walk with truth and love in those footprints that connect and ground us. |

Administration transitionSaying goodbye; Saying hello Last week we said "goodbye" to Sage, who has served as our Parish Administrator for the past year. Sage's easy-going nature and helpful spirit will be greatly missed. We wish him well in his new adventures across the pond. We have also now said "hello" to Amanda Unrau, who joined us as Parish Administrator last week. Amanda brings us her bright smile and her extensive administrative experience and knowledge from medical and small business contexts, along with some recent short-term work for our own Diocese. We appreciate your patience as she learns about St. George's. Feel free to drop by the office to introduce yourself and welcome Amanda to our midst. |

Altar Flowers
I hope everyone is enjoying spring and all the lovely blooming things! It is so nice to have flowers on our Altar again after the Lenten season. Just a reminder that we would love to have donations for our flower fund so we can keep providing flowers, both for the Altar and so we can share them with parishioners after services. Please contact Sandra Moore 250-721-1920 if you wish to have a dedication in the bulletin. Donations to our general flower fund can be dropped in the collection plate at any time.

How Did We Get This Land?Historic Walking Tours for Rogation Week - Sunday, May 5, 2024 For over a millennium, Christians have marked Rogation Week (the days before Ascension Thursday) by walking the boundaries of a parish, village, or manor. Known as ‘beating the bounds,’ this ancient custom maintained the memory of land divisions before the era of This year, parishioners and members of the public are invited to mark Rogation Week by walking a portion of the historic 23-acre Church Reserve, of which the current Cathedral Precinct (a mere 3-acres!) is the sole remnant. Historian Jesse Robertson will introduce us to fur traders, missionaries, and early colonial officials, inviting us to remember how land, colonization, and dispossession have shaped our life as a worshipping community in lək̓ʷəŋən territory. Three tours will be held, approximately 2.5 km in length, and limited to 12-18 participants each. There is no charge, but participants are encouraged to make a donation to the City of Victoria’s Reconciliation Contribution Fund: https://www.victoria.ca/city-government/reconciliation/reconciliation-contribution-fund Dates/Times Location |

"From Truth to Reconciliation" with Ry MoranWednesday May 15, 7:00pm As a Diocese we understand ourselves to be at the beginning of the long road to Truth and Reconciliation. This 90-minute presentation of spoken word, video footage, music and song, speaks to the ongoing work of truth telling, reconciliation, healing and peace making that we have committed to undertake. Currently UVIC's Associate University Librarian - Reconciliation, Ry Moran served as the Director of Statement Gathering for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (2010-2015) and then as founding Director of the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation (NCTR). His work of service to truth and reconciliation and human rights has brought him national and international recognition, including most recently, the announcement from UBC that he is this year's recipient of an honorary Doctorate of Law degree from that institution. Please plan to attend what will be a remarkable and possibly life-changing event. For further information, please click here.
