Last year the PWRDF World of Gifts raised enough money to support the construction of 14 shallow wells with hand pumps and 1 shallow well with a solar pump with their partner Utooni Development Organization (UDO) in Kenya. This year they want to provide even more clean water and better health outcomes for vulnerable communities in Kenya to improve health, reduce travel time to fetch water and keep more girls in school.

This year our Social Justice and Outreach team is inviting you to contribute to St. George’s Christmas Well Project.  We are hoping to raise $2,600 for the construction of a well with a solar-powered pump for a village in Kenya. Your gift can help provide a better life for the women and girls in one of the vulnerable communities. Parish Council has agreed to use a portion of the Mission Fund to match donations up to a total of $2,600.

Can be made through your St. George's Blue Envelope, be sure to mark “well project” on the “Other” line of your envelope or you may use a plain envelope with the designation “well project” written on the front. If you do not have Blue Envelopes, you can now donate ONLINE. Click here to go to our Givings page. Make sure to select "Christmas Well Project" in the drop down "To:" menu. 

 

An Appeal:

"I am only a teenager and I have to miss school to fetch water for my mum. It is three, lonely kilometers each way and it is hot - 30C+ and the barrel gets heavier every step I take! My brother won't help, this is woman's work. It would be a wonderful Christmas if we got a well like our neighbour Amanzimtoti."
