UPDATE: From Our Place...'We have been absolutely overwhelmed by the kindness of meal sponsors for April. We have fielded dozens of calls from caring donors like you and the great news is that a hot meal is on the menu, every single day in April."
In these rapidly changing times, the St. George's Outreach Team received an email from Our Place, and having reflected on this, decided to react by changing our agency this month.
We decided to defer our original agency until May, and add Our Place as the much-needed April agency. We are giving $600 dollars from the Outreach Team's reserve fund and would like to give you the opportunity to donate as well.
We reacted following an appeal sent out by Our Place stating:
"We are serving 1400 meals, 1200 bottles of water, managing 5 shelters and providing vital services and outreach support to the poor and homeless population each day during this crisis. Your financial support can help to provide much needed nourishment and necessities like sleeping bags and camping equipment for those who are working hard to stay well and survive without a home to isolate to. Unfortunately, we can no longer accept clothing donations due to the risk of contamination.
Your prayers, your work for social justice and your generosity of spirit that support us throughout the year mean so much as we find ways to deal creatively with a reality that changes daily.
With much gratitude for the work that you are doing and for living out your faith in acts of love.
Be kind, be calm, be safe.
From all of us at Our Place Society"
We are glad to say that the “blue envelopes” for Outreach can still be used as usual, but should be posted through the Church mailbox for future collection.
If, however, you wish to use the online donation system on the Our Place website please do so at this link.
Please keep an eye open in Setting Sail for any further Outreach information, as we are in a rapidly changing, but yet strangely suspended world!
Blessings and love, from the Social Justice and Outreach Team.
