St. George’s Church has been gifted with a Peace Pole. Look for it at the Maynard St. end of our woodland walking path. The Peace Pole Project symbolizes the oneness of humanity and our common wish for a world at peace. Each Peace Pole bears the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in different languages. The Peace Pole was instituted in 1955, in Japan, in response to the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings. There are estimated to be over 250,000 Peace Poles in every country in the world dedicated as monuments to peace. You are welcome to enjoy our path and have a peaceful rest on the bench at the end.
