The Victoria Sketch Club was founded in 1909 and is the oldest continually operating art club in Western Canada. Past notable members include iconic Canadian artists Emily Carr, Ted Harrison, and Jack Shadbolt.
Today the club is a diverse group of about 50 artists, some novice and others professional - all united in the club's purpose of supporting each other in our individual artistic journeys.
While not a teaching club, VSC does offer a supportive and friendly learning environment built on constructive criticism and technical knowledge while respecting individual interpretation. During the fall and winter seasons, the club meets at Windsor Park Pavilion for drawing, painting, critiques, and seminars. Once spring arrives, we meet outside for en plein air sessions at locations in and around the Greater Victoria area. The fall season includes our up-Island Paint Out Retreat.
A highlight of each year is our March Annual Members Show and Sale - we hope to see you there!
