Thank you to everyone who came to participate in our final service at St Dunstan's last Saturday. Attendees were greeted with the aroma of freshly baked bread, evoking memories of years past, which was shared with everyone during Communion.
The service felt respectful and sincere; with a thoughtful sermon and musical gifts from Fran, Lanny, and Trisha that lifted our spirits in thankfulness for our years together in that much-loved space and kindled hope for the future.
Participants in the service ranged from Katharine, an original founding member of St Dunstan's, to Lilja, one of our newest confirmed parishioners - with many others taking part.
The pews were comfortably full, and it was nice to have the chance to catch up with some folks we haven't seen for awhile. There were definitely tears and lots of hugs...
It was lovely to feel supported by a pew full of our Two Saints sisters and brothers. Thank you so much to everyone who came to share an emotional day with us or sent notes of prayer and support!
We were pleased to welcome clergy from around the Greater Victoria area, as well.
The luncheon provided by the Diocese via the caterers from Jones BBQ on Cook Street was very well received and delicious! Our sincerest thanks to Bishop Anna for catering this for us and to her staff for taking care of much of the background planning.
All in all, it was an emotional day...and it may take some of us a while to truly achieve closure...and we'll be gentle with each other as we move through that process.
